3.4 - Rigid Transformations
Transformations are becoming more prevalent in everyday life as animation and video games fill the homes of many children across the world. Every character or object that moves across your screen is undergoing some type of transformation, and when that character or object does not change in size or shape we call the movement a 'rigid transformation'.
Objectives
Learning:
I will use coordinates to develop function rules modeling translations, line reflections and rotations and explore the concept of function composition using successive application of two transformations.
Language:
I will determine the necessary transformations for the movement of a character in a virtual story to take place by watching the story and discussing what I see with my group members.

2. Select the pic of the dragon to the left and play an active role in the story that unfolds. Watch the shapes and characters and try and determine what transformations you see happening at each stage of the story. After your story is complete, answer the questions below on your own piece of paper:

3. Download, print and complete the worksheet Exploring Rigid Transformations. Make sure to grab some patty paper to help you move the points and shapes around the coordinate grid.
Check your results and fill in your cheat sheet by downloading the file below.
